Wladimir Klitschko Was Hurt, Still Won
July 8, 2007 - 1:01 pm by Ryan PhillipsIf you didn’t think Wladimir Klitschko was a tough sonafabitch after he pummeled Lamond Brewster in last night’s heavyweight title fight, we have a feeling you might change your mind now. Turns out he fought most of the fight with a broken left hand. To catch you up to speed, Klitschko uses an orthodox stance, therefore he jabs with his left … he landed 162 jabs in the fight’s six rounds. And about 90 percent of them snapped Brewster’s cinder block-like head back. Um, ouch.
Dude showed me a lot last night, but knowing he fought with a busted hand, that’s just a bonus. He’s currently sporting a cast stretching from his hand up past his elbow. It was technically a break of the middle finger on the hand. Looks like it will take eight weeks to heal, which isn’t too bad as far as his career is concerned. Nice work Wlad, way to sack up and tough it out, you get a +1 today.
