Only in college football could the third-ranked team in the nation somehow lose during their bye week.
Boise State gets the honors this year, and in week two no less, because Virginia Tech managed to lose to I-AA James Madison at home, in Blacksburg.
The immediate reaction all over the country was ...

You know, I was really enjoying a pretty quiet beginning of August. Should've known Brett Favre was fixing to ruin that.
You see, I'm a Packers fan. Always have been. As a result, I've morphed into something of the Brett Favre expert on this site. Truth be told, Favre was my ...

Sunday afternoon the San Diego Padres finished a three-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks, opening the second half of the season with a bang. The Friars outscored Arizona 26-10 over the weekend and have shown more life offensively over the past few weeks than they have for most of the ...

The ratings are in for LeBronapalooza, aka the Bron-Bron Fellatiathon, also known as "The Decision."*
As expected, it was a ratings bonanza. I guess.
With 9.95 million viewers, the program was the third-highest rated show on cable this year, trailing only the Pro Bowl and an episode of Nickelodeon's "iCarly."
Wait. Whaaaaaaa?

There's been a minor hubbub about Yankees' fans treatment of Javier Vazquez in his first start at Yankee Stadium this year. Vazquez didn't pitch very well, but he wasn't awful either (5.1 IP, four runs, six hits). But depending on the which account you read, he either ...

While ...

Things to love about Target Field (it's where the Twins play) - Star Tribune

Thanks to our good friend Thporth for finding the following image:
I guess I could understand how people not from the Midwest could confuse UNI and NIU. After all, acronyms can be pretty puzzling.
However, for future reference, I'd like to point out the following: Northern Iowa (UNI) is currently ranked 18th ...

No matter which source you consult it's widely recognized that Tim Tebow did nothing to help his rapidly descending stock at the Senior Bowl. He fumbled snaps, looked awkward on his drop-backs, floated deep passes and took far too long to release his throws.
I'm sure Todd McShay didn't meant to ...

Adrian Branch and Todd Harris called last night’s WAC showdown between Nevada and Utah State on ESPN2. Being the avid college basketball fan that I am, I decided why not watch my third game of the night (Michigan State-Minnesota and Northwestern-Wisconsin had my attention earlier). I'm semi-watching the game, more ...
