Cliff Harris Cited Again, Suspended By Oregon

Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris is at it again. Monday night he was cited for several infractions, including driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance. Seriously, how dumb is this kid?

Oregon coach Chip Kelly quickly suspended Harris from the team indefinitely depending a review of the incident. As a result of the suspension, Harris will not be allowed to participate in any team-related activities.

According to Eugene police, Harris was stopped on a city street Monday afternoon because an officer noticed he was not wearing a seat belt.

Thanks to all the other illegal things he was doing (no license, no insurance) Harris faces more than $950 in fines. The car Harris was driving - which police say belongs to a relative - was impounded.

For those who don’t know, Harris was also pulled over in June by Oregon State Police for driving 118 miles per hour on a suspended license. During that incident, the state trooper smelled a strong odor of pot, and when he asked the passengers who had the marijuana, Harris responded, “We smoked it all.” He was suspended “indefinitely” after that incident as well, and missed the season’s opening game, a loss to LSU.

Chip Kelly has never been known as someone to enforce discipline off the field, so I expect him to cave and let Harris back on the team at his first opportunity to do so. But he shouldn’t. Harris should be done at Oregon, the kid is an embarrassment. After his much-publicized issue this summer how on Earth did he think it was a good idea to drive a car again?

Some kids just don’t get it. Regardless of how talented he is, Kelly shouldn’t let him back on the field.
