Someone On The Vikings Other Than Brett Favre Injured A Hip?

OK, if I told you that a member of the Minnesota Vikings was out with a hip injury, who would you automatically assume I was talking about?

Come on, I know it’s a cheap old guy joke, but at this point Brett Favre’s hip bones have to be as brittle as Necco wafers. But no, Favre is fine, unless you count insane, delusional narcissism as an injury. Instead, Favre’s No. 1 target, Sidney Rice confirmed this morning that he had hip surgery at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. He is likely to miss the first half of the season.

Rice, who had a breakout year with Favre throwing to him last season, was angling for a long-term contract extension and hoped to improve his chances for that with another stellar year. He had 83 catches for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns last season while making his first Pro Bowl. That’s certainly a nice season but it’s going to be hard to convince the Vikings to pay him with only half a year under his belt.

The situation in Minnesota regarding receivers is so desperate that the Vikings are actually going to bring in Javon Walker. Yes, the same Javon Walker who clashed with Favre when they played in Green Bay together.

Man, Rice should have talked to Favre more, he could have told the South Carolina product to drink more Ensure and make sure he was getting his daily dose of Calcium. Oh and I hear Centrum Silver helps as well.

Now, because he neglected his own bone health, Favre has to deal with Javon freaking Walker. You’re not supposed to allow the elderly to deal with conflict. The poor guy could keel over from hearing a distant car alarm, let alone an argument with a perpetually ill-tempered receiver.
