Marlins Expect Answer From Albert Pujols Shortly

UPDATE: The Marlins are officially out of the Pujols chase, but they did sign Mark Buehrle today.
The Miami Marlins have made their pitch to free agent first baseman Albert Pujols and they reportedly expect an answer from the slugger shortly. As in, before Wednesday morning.
No one is exactly sure what the Marlins have offered money-wise, but they have put a 10-year deal on the table, and it obviously has to be for some serious green because it prompted the St. Louis Cardinals to pony up with their own offer.
The latest buzz from the winter meetings in Dallas is that the Marlins have offered 10 years and somewhere around $220 million, while the Cardinals have gone with nine years and $200 million. The Chicago Cubs have also apparently made an offer but for a much shorter term than the other suitors, while the Los Angeles Angels have also reportedly gotten involved in the discussions as well.
Pujols’ agent Dan Lozano has met with the Marlins and Cardinals multiple times in the last two days and it appears Miami is pressing him and Pujols for a quick resolution so the franchise can move forward with other plans.
