McD’s Week Eight College Football Picks
October 21, 2011 - 1:03 pm by McDThe only picks by an actual Indiana grad who prefers Indiana football to Indiana basketball. It’s an acquired taste.
What I’m watching this week (with my dad edition):
12 pm - Indiana at Iowa - I guess so my Hawkeye-fan dad can watch with me and make snarky comments the whole time. Guh. Indiana fans are going to laugh about this year one day in the future. Maybe they’ll make a movie about Kevin Wilson taking this team out to some abandoned Army base in Texas and treating them like crap too.
3:30 pm - Georgia Tech at Miami - I’m hesitant to pick this game, but my love of Paul Johnson’s offense is like the love for a 15-year-old scotch. Great flavor and sometimes you wake up face down on a wood floor.
8 pm - Wisconsin at Michigan State - This might be a DVR special in case Wisconsin trounces them like they should. Still, nice game.
Week Seven Record: 11-2 W/L, 10-3 AS
2011 Season Record: 72-23 W/L, 53-39-3 AS
12 pm ET
Indiana (1-6) at Iowa (4-2) (-24)
Oh my God, Indiana actually has a shot at beating the spread in a conference game again!
Pick: Iowa wins but doesn’t cover
North Carolina (5-2) at (7) Clemson (7-0) (-11)
Never take a team with an interim coach on the road against a team as hot as Clemson. Let’s hope Tajh Boyd’s swag doesn’t screw their season again.
Pick: Clemson
3:30 pm ET
Air Force (3-3) at (5) Boise State (6-0) (-30)
As quasi-unpatriotic as it seems, Air Force is going to get crushed.
Pick: Boise
(20) Auburn (5-2) at (1) LSU (7-0) (-23.5)
Though some LSU players might be missing, the Tigers of Auburn are in much worse shape. Not sure I would have picked this game for a quarterback to have his first start.
Pick: LSU wins but doesn’t cover
(22) Georgia Tech (6-1) at Miami (FL) (3-3) (-3)
All these loving stories about Jacory Harris seem presumptive to me. Not that I’m biased for Georgia Tech just because of their offense or anything.
Pick: Georgia Tech
7 pm ET
(21) Penn State (6-1) at Northwestern (2-4) (+4)
Upset special.
Pick: Northwestern
7:30 pm ET
USC (5-1) at Notre Dame (4-2) (-9)
What, exactly, has Notre Dame done to be giving nine points?
Pick: USC
8 pm ET
(25) Washington (5-1) at (8) Stanford (6-0) (-20)
Yeah, that’s about right for this spread.
Pick: Stanford
(6) Wisconsin (6-0) at (16) Michigan State (5-1) (+8)
Ever been afraid of meeting the bigger, faster, and smarter you? Well, it’s about to happen to Michigan State.
Pick: Wisconsin
Texas Tech (4-2) at (3) Oklahoma (6-0) (-29)
Tech can score, but not only do they not really play defense, they have a history of gagging against Oklahoma.
Pick: Oklahoma

Notre Dame has slit their own throats twice with turnovers. If not for LOLZORS FUMBLIES!, they’d probably be undefeated.
Plus, they’re not coached by Lane Kiffin.

They did somehow lose to Michigan yet beat Michigan State.

To be fair MJ, USC isn’t coached by Brian Kelly, so that door swings both ways. Plus, I mean, ND doesn’t really have any impressive wins. Michigan State handed them that game.

And neither team will have any impressive wins on Saturday. Zing!

I think every Irish fan knew something bad was going to happen when Crist came in for that series.

Sorry MJ, I know you’re not the insane, over the top type of ND fan, but MAN those guys were talking all kinds of crap leading up to the game. All the pundits, players, fans, etc. were expecting a walkover. Kind of hilarious in hindsight.
