Jordan Jefferson Wants To Start For LSU
October 4, 2011 - 10:27 pm by Ryan PhillipsRemember when LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson got all brawl-y and got himself suspended for being a part of an assault on what has regularly been described as a defenseless man. Well, that happened way back on August 19th, so maybe Jefferson has forgotten all about it. And now he thinks he should be LSU’s starting quarterback since he’s no longer suspended.
Jefferson told reporters on Monday that his goal is to be the starter and he’s going to do whatever it takes to get there. I’m gonna go ahead and presume that when he says “whatever it takes” he doesn’t mean he’s planning on jumping and beating the crap out of current starter Jarrett Lee. Though given Jefferson’s history, we can’t rule anything out.
Jefferson said the following about his current status:
“I don’t feel like I’m behind. I’ve been working out a lot. I’ve been in the toughest battles there are. I have a 20-7 record which is very high for a quarterback at LSU. I’ve been leading LSU for three years. When coach (Les) Miles puts me in, I can help this team win.”
Uh, Jordan? You’re bragging about being 20-7 over the past few years with as much talent surrounding you as anyone in the country? Really? If my record in charge of a ridiculously talented LSU squad over the past three seasons was 20-7 I wouldn’t be saying “I’m 20-7″ with pride. It would be more like “I’m 20-7? I’m so, so sorry everyone.”
LSU fans and SEC observers have argued quite successfully that you were the thing holding LSU back over the past three seasons…well you and former offensive coordinator Gary Crowton. So for you to step in after you screwed yourself over and think you’re going to walk back into a starting job - after Lee has expertly led the Tigers to the top spot in the polls against a brutal schedule - is just ridiculous.
Right now Lee has a quarterback rating of 140.5, with seven touchdowns and just one interception. In those years where you were “leading” LSU to a 20-7 record, your best quarterback rating was 137.2, and as a junior last season when you should have been at your best, you posted a rating of 114.7.
So yeah Jordan, just sit your ass on the bench and think about what you’ve done.
If there is any justice in the world, Jefferson’s disappointing career will have ended when he broke curfew, went to a bar and got into a fight.

Damn straight!I’m sorry to see him back on the team.I seem to remember losing to frickin’ Penn State while this loser was “leading” LSU.He doesn’t have the good judgment and maturity required to lead a national championship team. As shown here, he will probably be more trouble than he’s worth.

Can’t stand Jefferson’s method of playing, and he is just bad luck. Jarrett Lee has earned the right to be the starting QB, or the main QB for that matter. Jefferson needs to go home cry in his pillow because he showed such poor judgement by not obeying the curfew to begin with. He’s not worth causing the Tigers to have a possible loss this season. He’s a 5th year senior. He should have gone out as a 4 year senior and look for work elsewhere.

I Think that many have forgotten when Lee through 6 NIT’S. If one really want to know are listen the (DEFENSE) is really winning those games. And if they haven’t learned something from Alabama and Florida a pocket passer will get us killed. Now oh ever believe that Saban will let Lee subpar passing and a good running game beat them you have to be joking. It will be times that the QB will have to run to help the offensive line and gain some yards. If you watch Lee really closed when pressure he throw backing up and, that’s a no no. The name of the game is Like Al Davis Said Just Win Baby and, to beat Bama we will needed Jordan and those legs to get us out of trouble. We had Alabama beat Two years ago when they won the BCS championship with Jefferson the defence made a mistake.
