The Miami Heat Have Lost As Many Games As The Indiana Pacers

Yeah, read that one again. The Miami Heat, Miami Thrice, The Big Three, the greatest combination of superstars in NBA history have the same number of losses as the Indiana freaking Pacers. I’ll allow you a few minutes to stop laughing…
The Heat allowed a 22-point lead to slip away Tuesday night. Actually, a 22-point lead doesn’t slip away, it implodes. The Heat lost 116-114 in overtime to the Utah Jazz, as Paul Millsap absolutely abused Chris Bosh for a career-high 46 points. With the embarrassing home loss, the Heat dropped to 5-3 despite 39 points from Dwyane Wade and LeBron James’ 29th career triple-double.
On the same night that Miami was making us laugh, the Indiana Pacers were beating the Denver Nuggets 144-113. The Pacers dropped 54 points in the third quarter. In that third quarter Indiana hit its first 20 shots, and would have been perfect had Josh McRoberts not missed a three-pointer with 1.9 seconds left in the frame. It was the most points in a quarter by an NBA team since 1990.
How insane was the production out of the Pacers Tuesday night? The terminally underwhelming Mike Dunleavy scored 31 points. Second-year point guard Darren Collison dropped 29. Tyler Hansbrough, he of the vertigo-related injury list stint, had 20 points and nine rebounds.
The win put the Pacers at 3-3 on the season and just a half-game out of first place (behind Cleveland) in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference. The Heat are a full game back of the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks in the Southeast Division.
So why didn’t ESPN go to training camp with the Pacers? When Collison and James Posey arrived via trade from the New Orleans Hornets, why didn’t the Pacers have a huge party? After all, this is a celebration bitches!
I mean, honestly, with the way Chris Bosh has played thus far (14.4 points, 5.4 rebounds) can anyone really be looking at that $16.6 million price tag and think it was a great signing? Bosh is currently being out-rebounded by Udonis Haslem and Dwyane Wade.
So after a few weeks, the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers are tied in the loss column. Enjoy that while it lasts.
