Josh Booty Gets Eight Grand For Getting Tazed

August 11, 2010 - 11:35 pm by Ryan Phillips

Former barely NFL quarterback Josh Booty settled a lawsuit against the Orange County sheriff’s department alleging sheriff’s deputies shot him with a stun gun while booking him for drunken driving.

Booty’s attorney, Tariq Hasan, claims the former awful quarterback will receive $8,619.

In 2008 Booty, who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2001, was pulled over for a traffic violation. While in custody, sheriff’s deputies said they subdued him with a stun gun when he became belligerent. Apparently Booty disagreed with their assessment of his behavior.

Booty later pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was sentenced to three years probation. Prosecutors claim the 35-year-old is currently wanted on an arrest warrant because he failed to enroll in an alcohol program.

So they settled the lawsuit with a guy who is currently wanted on an arrest warrant? How does that work?

Oh, oh I get it. They’re going to make Booty show up to collect his check then slap the cuffs on him! Oh, you guys are good.

Booty, who also played baseball for five years in the Florida Marlins’ organization really played this badly.

So a member of the Booty family got paid because he was acting so erratically he got hit with a stun gun. Where was the Orange County Sheriff’s Department during the 2007 USC-Stanford game?

What? When Josh Booty is erratic he gets zapped, but when John David Booty is erratic he gets to embarrass an entire university? Yeah that’s fair.

  2. Never heard of anyone ever getting shot with a stun gun. Just how does one do that?
A stun gun is something you have to press against someone to shock them.

  5. Jerry,
Yes, I’m aware. I said “a member of the Booty family got paid…”

I’m a USC fan, so obviously I’m aware of the difference between John David and Josh.

  6. i was shot by a trigger happy cop while under doctors care just because. I was trying to keep something i paid for and the persons wanted it back and they got mean and threated me and the cops did nothing to them. but when i threw the thing on the ground they arrested me and when i refused to roll over the hurt my foot that was under doctor care after they stunned me three times. i posed no threat to them i just could not roll over on my toe.
i think the copsnow have a toy they can play with and use it when they fell they need to.

i need a good lawyer to find out my rights.

  7. I dont know why any pro player, football, hockey, baseball, basketball, or any other, should think that they are above any one, they make millions thanks to there fans, but never show it enough, and when they get in trouble like us, they should pay the same as we do.

  9. Tasers are becoming the new rubber hoses for the police. They can use it as an instrument of torture and it will leave no physical scars. Well i gues it is better than getting the crap beat out of you or shot.
