Scott Wolf Of The Los Angeles Daily News Is A Moron

I’ve long wondered why the BCS is so messed up every year and we end up with a muddled picture at the top of the college football world. Well, after taking a look at Scott Wolf’s week five ballot, I’ve figured it out. Simply put, the lion’s share of people voting for this thing either don’t care or they’re freaking morons. Wolf is the USC beat writer for the Los Angeles Daily News and he runs a blog for the paper called Inside USC.

Here is Wolf’s ballot:

OK, let’s just start dissecting this right away.
- He has Ole Miss ranked No. 8, but South Carolina is unranked. The teams both have one loss and South Carolina just beat the Rebels last Thursday.

-Oklahoma is at No. 6, and BYU is at No. 15. The teams have same record but BYU beat the Sooners at a neutral site.

-Kansas is No. 9. The Jayhawks are unbeaten and hold wins over perennial powerhouses Northern Colorado, UTEP, Duke and Southern Miss. Their most impressive win came in a brawl with the Kansas basketball team.

-Georgia is at No. 17 but Oklahoma State is unranked. Again, the teams have the same record and the Cowboys spanked the Bulldogs 24-10 to open the season.

-Georgia Tech is No. 19 and Miami is No. 20. Miami ripped Georgia Tech 33-17 in week two.

-Also, BYU sits at No. 16 and they suffered a humiliating loss at home to Florida State. However, South Florida is unranked in Wolf’s poll but the Bulls are undefeated and beat the Seminoles this past weekend.

-Wolf has Nebraska (3-1) at No. 10. I wonder which win impressed him most, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State or Louisiana-Lafayette?

-Finally, Penn State is nowhere to be found in his top 25 after a close home loss to Iowa. So Penn State drops from No. 5 out of the top 25, but Ole Miss loses and only slips from No. 4 to No. 8?

My question really is, does this jackass even watch college football? Did he just throw darts at a board?

I am aware that the AP poll that Wolf votes in is no longer part of the BCS formula (thank God) but he can’t be the only person not paying attention to what he’s doing. I wonder if any of these guys actually take the polls seriously. I doubt they do, since all they count for is a mythical national title anyway.

Now to be fair, Wolf has been outed as a tool many, many times before. Several of his greatest hits are:
-Reporting that LenDale White failed a drug test at the NFL’s Scouting Combine, citing “anonymous sources.” Everyone and their brother shot that story down as false but ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli said Wolf’s erroneous report had an adverse affect on White’s draft status.

-On February 6, 2006 Wolf reported that running back C.J. Spiller had committed to USC, again citing “anonymous sources.” Spiller publicly committed to Clemson the next day.

-On January 6, 2007, Wolf reported on USC kicker Mario Danielo’s “apparent suicide,” when in fact, no one from the Police department or the coroner’s office had claimed that suicide was the cause of death. Danielo’s death was later ruled accidental.

Wolf’s Inside USC blog is nothing but a personal pulpit from which he shows pictures of his balding, creepy, middle-aged ass in forced, posed pictures with cheerleaders and hurls insults at Pete Carroll. Anyone who has actually read his stuff is aware of what an awful a writer and journalist he is. But this kind of wanton neglect for his job is simply horrendous.

There are tons of great writers out there struggling to find work in this economy, yet Scott Wolf still has a job. It’s an embarrassment to journalism.

If there was ever overwhelming evidence for a playoff it’s Wolf’s ridiculous ballot.
