Philly’s Love-Hate Relationship with McNabb is Just Annoying
November 18, 2008 - 11:47 am by TheRiotOK, here’s the thing: We’re not about to start hating on Philadelphia sports fans. We’re really not. For one, it seems dangerous given their past with people they turn on. Second, we do have respect for people, however misguided, that are passionate about their sports.
But this whole we love him, we hate him thing they have with Donovan McNabb has just got to end. It never will, but dammit, we’re putting our foot down.
We all know the story. It started literally from the moment he was drafted. The latest part of the saga just heightens the ridiculousness of it all.
So, Donovan told the media after Sunday’s game with the Bengals, which ended in a tie, that he had no idea that NFL rules even allowed for such a thing. It seemed kind of odd he didn’t know it could happen — especially since the last tie happened when he was in the league — but it didn’t seem like that big a deal in the scheme of things.
Naturally, the Philly media is blasting him over it and head coach Andy Reid is forced to defend his quarterback yet again. Here’s the best part:
And after two consecutive weeks of poor play at the quarterback position, someone had the nerve to ask Reid whether he’d thought about replacing McNabb with Kevin Kolb. If you’ve followed Reid over the years, you know how loyal he is to No. 5.
And why shouldn’t he be? Can anybody seriously think Kevin freakin’ Kolb is a better option to win football games than Donovan McNabb? Come on. Complete garbage.
This should be an absolute non-story. People in Philly should look around. There aren’t very many teams with a quarterback better than McNabb. Practically the entire league would take him off their hands if he’s so terrible.
So, please, just stop. We’ve all heard quite enough.

Here’s why we hate McNabb:
First play of the game, he throws a 400mph zinger wayyyyy past Westbrook on an easy catch and run play. It’s inexcusable because…A. You know its the first play B. Its a pass anyone’s grand mom could make C. We proceeded to go three and out and still look terrible early in games.
MCNabb has been here 10 years and he still can’t put any sort of touch on the ball. He still throws screen passes over Westbrook’s head. He still throws terrible picks that cost us games. He didn’t even know games ended in a tie. We’ll take 2-3 years of a struggling Kolb if he can turn into a game manager like Eli, because game management will win us superbowls. Mcnabb is a 10 year pro, but you cant call him a veteran when he makes rookie mistakes so often. Reid’s play calling only adds to the pressure, and we know McNabb is dreadful at facing pressure (in-game or out of it). McNabb may be a good QB, but he cannot win a Super Bowl without a good look in the mirror and a focus on the fundamentals. He’s had since 2004 to get it together, and he has shown the fans that he’s learned NOTHING since that loss. He’s only gotten worse, so THATS why he needs to go.

MCNABB NEEDS TO GO BECAUSE HE IS HAVING A GRAND OLE TIME … WHILE PEYTON… BIG BEN.. AND BRETT FARVE ARE WINNING.. HIS TIME IS OVER HERE IN PHILLY SO HIS SMILE AND LOW FOOTBALL I.Q. CAN GO ELSEWHERE AND THROW 55 PASSES AND STILL LOSE A GAME… ANDY REID DECLINED ON STALLWORTH AND BROUGHT IN CURTIS WHO LIKES TO PLAY FOLLOW THE CORNER DOWN THE FIELD.. AND HOW MUCH MONEY DID HE GET… BAD MOVE ANDY…HEY CAN SOMEONE GET BRIAN BILLICK OR JIM FASSEL ON THE PHONE … THESE ARE GUYS WHO SPEAK LOUDLY AND NOT COUGH AND CHOKE AT PRESS CONFERENCES…

In response to kenny b……..last i checked peyton manning is having an awful year, watch a couple colts games….second, the eagles were nothing for 20 years until mcnabb came along, as the original posting read, any team would be happy to take him…he’s an awesome quarter back who had a couple bad games….play calling and a lack of play making receivers had a lot to do with it….and as we saw kolb is a ridiculous choice of replacement, anyone who would consider trading mcnabb and making kolb our #1 QB is an idiot. he took a game that was only 7 down and lost it by nearly 30…good choice.
