Aaron Cook: Proving Even Redheads Can Be All Stars

July 2, 2008 - 12:15 am by TheRiot

It seems no matter what baseball game I’m watching these days, somebody has an All Star ballot-stuffing campaign going. Heck, McD started an anti-Kosuke Fukudome campaign (of which I didn’t approve) just the other day.

So, while I know fans can’t vote for pitchers, and it’s all but assured Aaron Cook will make the team because his manager, Clint Hurdle, is managing the National League team, I’d like to just say he deserves it.

The Rockies (33-51) have been abysmal, but Cook is 11-5 with a 3.37 ERA after throwing a complete game, five-hit shutout Tuesday night against the Padres. And he did that on 79 pitches.

Editor’s note: It’s really not that hard to throw a shutout against the Padres. They are terrible. Ziiiiing at the Padres contingent of this blog.

Keep in mind this is the same Aaron Cook whose best win total in one season is nine. Yeahh.

He’ll make a fine All Star. Red goatee and all.
