Friday Night Lights Is Coming Back Baby!
March 10, 2008 - 11:51 pm by Ryan PhillipsNow that “The Wire” is gone, other than “Lost” and “Life,” there’s really not much on television we look forward too. As long-time readers know, one of the shows we all love is “Friday Night Lights.” For over a year rumors have been swirling that the critically acclaimed, widely loved and sparsely watched show was one step from the cancellation bin. Frankly, I got tired of hearing about how one of the best shows on TV was going to die because NBC buried it in a horrible time slot. It looked like the recent Writer’s Guild of America strike had finally killed the show, as the intense second season was stopped short of its finish. We had all but given up, because it’s so hard to invest the time and energy into caring about a show, when you’re constantly reminded that it’s probably not going to last another episode.
Well, rejoice FNL fans, the show will see a third season! We stumbled across several news articles today that reported an agreement between NBC and DirecTV to keep the show around for at least one more season.
We couldn’t be happier. As we’ve expounded on before, the show is the perfect storm for television. There’s fantastic acting, great writing, sports and hot chicks. What more could you ask for? If you aren’t watching it, you need to start. Go to NBC.com and watch the episodes online at your leisure. The entire series is up there.
As we’ve pointed out numerous times, the one thing that keeps us coming back (other than the fact that it’s an amazing show) is the ridiculous level of hotness that jumps off the screen. Pretty much ever female character on the show is hot. I’m not exaggerating. From the main hotties, played by Minka Kelly and Adrianne Palicki to the coach’s daughter played by (a recently legal) Aimee Teegarden there’s no end to the eye candy. Teegarden is supposed to be playing a 16-year-old and though he annoying confused/dramatic pauses are a little annoying, she somehow sprouted boobs before the second season and now her new chin-pillows make us forget her awkwardness on screen. Also coming on strong in season two was star running back Smash Williams’ girlfriend, Noelle, played by Jana Kramer. Hell, even the coach’s wife is decent looking when you consider she’s supposed to have just pumped out a kid.
If our description to this point hasn’t piqued your interest in the show allow the following flood of pictures of the show’s finer assets to help persuade you.
Still not convinced you should be watching? Check your pulse. Then watch a few episodes online.

So it’s called FNL? I’m not sure I’m comfortable with that yet.

FWIW, this is the same story that was posted ljavascript:void(0)
Publish Your Commentast week. It hasn’t been hashed out any further than the news from March 5. Just looks like MediaDailyNews finally caught on and used the story from Deadline Hollywood. The only update since then came from E! Online with Jason Katims:
“We remain optimistic about the future of the series and appreciate the overwhelming fan support, but it is too premature to comment on the status of any negotiations.”
Hopefully they lock this up soon. The Season 2 DVD is out in April, so I guess it’s time to go pre-order.

Chris,
I only linked one story about it, but several other sites were saying it’s a done deal.

Can you imagine a Playboy spread with these ladies? Ratings would definitely soar ;)

Am I officially old if I find Connie Britton hotter than all of them? Okay, I’ll see myself out.

The name “Minka Kelly” just drips with sex.
This is definite good news. Maybe NBC will wise up and put it in a decent time slot. They seem to be the masters of taking good shows and ruining them with their air times.

Connie Britton is definitely hot but I couldn’t find any good pictures of her when I was looking. So I decided to stick with the young pieces of tail for this post. Oh and that Adrianne Palicki shoot has made its rounds on the internet. If you search her name with “Complex Magazine” you’ll find them. And there are a few better ones, but we like to keep it classy here at R&R.

You should make it slightly (or a lot) more obvious that this is not original content from Phillips.
