The Arizona Diamondbacks did the improbable Friday night and clinched the National League West, thanks to a 3-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. The win completed a worst-to-first turnaround, as they improved their record to 91-66 and extended their lead in the division to seven games.

ESPN's Buster Olney - you know, the guy we've called a moron several times - is now reporting that the San Diego Padres are prepared to keep 2007 Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy if they can't get equal value in return for the right-hander.
