The Pittsburgh Penguins took a 3-1 series lead over the New York Rangers on Wednesday night thanks to a 4-2 road win. While that’s a big deal and all, the real big news was forward Evgeni Malkin’s ridiculous, backhanded, no-look goal.
In the opening period with the score tied 0-0, Sidney Crosby sent the puck towards the front of the net and it drifted through a few players. Malkin was hanging out on the right side of the crease and he corralled the puck with his back to the goal and flicked it behind his back without looking at the net. It somehow went past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
That description doesn’t come close to doing the goal justice, so just check out the video after the jump.
