Barry Hinson. Learn the name. Why? Because he’s going to be in the news for a while.
Hinson is the head coach of Southern Illinois’ men’s basketball team, which lost to Murray State 73-65 on Tuesday night to fall to 2-8 on the season. During his post-game press conference, Hinson he went on an absolutely epic rant. To say he wasn’t pleased with his team’s effort, intensity and focus would be a massive understatement.
During his post-game presser, Hinson started slowly by ripping his team a bit, but not really going over the top. Then once he got rolling things went in an incredible direction. The man just went off after about three minutes and ripped his players to shreds using every club in his bag, including comparing them to his wife.
Video of the post-game rant is below:
Some of our favorite highlights:
“I’m struggling with this crew. They won’t let me coach ‘em.”
I’ve got a bunch of mama’s boys right now.”
“I’ve been telling my wife this for years, size doesn’t matter.”
“Marcus was absolutely awful, that’s about as PG rated as I can say it. He was awful. Our guards are awful. Our three starting guards had one assist and seven turnovers. They must think it’s a tax credit.”
“My wife! My wife (!!!) can score more than two buckets on 11 shots because I know my wife will at least shot fake one time.”
“When you’ve got a young team it’s a lot like house training a puppy dog. When the dog does something wrong (smacks table) bad dog! I’m not gonna hit ‘em, I’m not gonna swat ‘em, but bad dog.”
“There was a sniper in the gym. Did you see that? We had guys falling down. I mean we had a guy snipered (which isn’t a word) at half court, two guys snipered at half court. It was unbelievable. I would have thought Navy Seal Team 6 was out there.”
We have instantly become huge fans of Barry Hinson. Rant on good sir, rant on.
