Video: U.S. Soccer rips El Salvador 5-1

The United States men’s national soccer team cruised in its Gold Cup quarterfinal matchup against El Salvador Sunday afternoon, dominating the┬áCentral American team en route to a 5-1 victory.

The Americans got a huge game from Landon Donovan who scored a goal, tallied three assists and helped set up another goal. It was a truly vintage performance from the best American soccer player of all-time.

The win marked the ninth straight victory for the Americans, the longest winning streak in U.S. national team history. Video of all the game’s goals and highlights after the jump.

With Sunday’s win the United States has advanced to the semifinals of the Gold Cup, where it will face Honduras on Wednesday at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

  2. I have not been a die hard soccer fan in the past. I have really only been interested during World Cup play. This Gold Cup series and this team in particular has really caught my attention. I have watched every game so far and intend to watch with the remaining matches. I have found the game to be very entertaining and am beginning to understand why it captivates sport fans around the world.
