On Wednesday night the Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues had another epic slugfest of a game in their incredible first-round playoff series.
In Game 5 Wednesday night the Blues scored to tie the game 2-2 with 44 seconds to go in regulation. The Kings then bounced back with a gorgeous goal from second-year defenseman Slava Voynov in overtime to win the game 3-2.
A description and video of the goal are after the jump.
Dustin Brown got the play started inside the Kings’ zone with a quick hip check on David Backes to help clear the puck out of the zone. Justin Williams, then collected the puck and found Anze Kopitar skating into the middle of the Blues’ zone. Kopitar took possession and found Voynov, who had jumped up to join the three-on-two rush. Voynov then slammed the puck home past Blues goalie Brian Elliott to light the lamp and give the Kings a 3-2 lead in the series.
