The Los Angeles Kings’ defense of a Stanley Cup got off to a rocky 3-5-2 start, but since then they have turned things around. That run of good play continued on Wednesday. After trailing 1-0 midway through the third period against the Detroit Red Wings, the Kings came back to pull off a 2-1 win thanks to sweet goals by Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar.
Kopitar’s game-winner was especially awesome, as he made a sweet finish as he displayed some nifty stick-handling to fake out Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard and slipped the puck past him.
The above video is just more evidence that Kopitar may be the most underrated player in the NHL.
It was Kopitar’s sixth goal of the season and the win improved the defending Stanley Cup champions’ record to 10-6-2, and they have now won seven of their last eight games.
