Last month David Beckham ended an offseason training stint with English club Tottenham. Pretty much everyone assumed Beckham would head back to play for Spurs as soon as his contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy ends later this year. Apparently that might not be the case.
Despite the fact that Tottenham’s manager Harry Redknapp essentially fawned over Beckham during his time with Spurs, the 35-year-old may prefer to stay in America.
On Tuesday in Toronto Beckham told reporters there was a chance he’d want to stay in Major League Soccer as opposed to trying to make another go in Europe. The guy has moved his family all over the world a few times and with a fourth child on the way this summer, maybe he and Mrs. Beckham actually feel settled in Los Angeles.
Of course, there is no guarantee the Galaxy would want the expensive, oft-injured and often dramatic midfielder back after his contract is up at the end of 2011.
Since joining the club in 2007, Beckham has played in 53 matches for the Galaxy and has scored nine goals in that time. In that time he’s also spent two loan spells with A.C. Milan in Italy.
