While he hasn’t even been fired by Michigan yet, Rich Rodriguez apparently has plenty of suitors lining up if he does get canned. Pretty much everyone agrees that Rodriguez will be fired at some point, so let’s just stop pretending it’s not going to happen. If he is, indeed, a free man, where could he end up?
Clemson also may have an opening if the Tigers decide to break up the Dabo Swinney Experience.
So where would RichRod end up? It’s hard to see him not going back to the Big East, a place where he enjoyed a ton of success before departing to Ann Arbor. But would he be ballsy enough to become the head coach at Pitt, the bitter rival of his former school and alma mater? Come on, this is Rich Rodriguez we’re talking about. The guy thinks he’s God’s gift to coaching, he doesn’t care about things like that. In fact, I think the Pitt-WVU rivalry makes it even more likely that he’d take the gig.
But after the Mike Haywood fiasco it remains to be seen if Pitt would want to hire anyone with any kind of checkered past. Rodriguez doesn’t have the cleanest rap sheet on the planet.
This should be interesting, especially because UConn has to at least give Rodriguez a chance to interview.
