A report has surfaced today that is almost too funny to write about. Seriously, I’m still laughing. In their ongoing effort to trade Carmelo Anthony the Denver Nuggets have apparently tried to maneuver a way to land themselves …(wait for it)… Blake Griffin.
ESPN’s Marc Stein and Chris Broussard have both claimed this report as a fact and that makes you wonder, just what is Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri smoking and how can I get my hands on some?
Blake Griffin? Seriously? Why not try for Kevin Durant while you’re at it? Hell, I’m sure you could call up Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak and try and work a deal to get Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant too.
I know we’re talking about the Los Angeles Clippers here but even they aren’t dumb enough to get rid of the best thing to happen to their franchise since…well, ever.
Aside from lapping the field in the Rookie of the Year chase, Griffin is also making Clippers games an even to watch. You never know when he’s going to do something ridiculous. The guy is almost inhuman with some of the things he does on the court. For once the Clippers have a marketable commodity, not to mention a young, up-and-coming team surrounding their star. Griffin and guard Eric Gordon form one of the best young one-two combos in the league.
Griffin is currently averaging 21.8 points and 12.6 rebounds per game and is second in the league in double-doubles with 29.
The Nuggets are seriously insane if they think the Clippers would even consider moving him.
