A few weeks back, Phil Jackson ruffled a few feathers when the Heat got off to a slow start by suggesting that Miami coach Erik Spoelstra might find himself in a “Van Gundy-type situation” and get replaced on the bench by Pat Riley if the team continued to struggle.
Well here we are just a short while later and Jackson’s Lakers have stumbled to three straight bad losses against the Bucks, Heat and Spurs. They either look old, winded, disinterested or perhaps all three.
I don’t cover the Lakers, but if I did, it would be impossible to resist asking, “Phil, are you worried about finding yourself in a Van Gundy-type situation?”
Obviously the Lakers would never do something so ridiculous, but seeing the look on Jackson’s face when asking that question would be worth the trouble alone.
