Here Comes The Blogosphere Meltdown

The sports blog world has long loved to go after Jay Mariotti for his ridiculous opinions on sports, his ego, and basically because he’s a classic example of some one who writes about sports for a living, but it’s difficult to tell whether he actually likes sports or not. If Skip Bayless knew what a computer was, he’d be the main target of the blogs, but we’re not THAT lucky.

If you don’t know by now, Mariotti was arrested Saturday morning for some sort of “domestic incident,” whatever that means. No one is sure what happened yet, but we do know Mariotti is facing felony charges and is free on $50, 000 bail.

I’m not going to celebrate a guy getting arrested for a felony no matter how much I professionally dislike him.

I WILL tell you that I’m incredibly fired up for the blogosphere. Every blog is going to be all over this story from beginning to end. Every past story about the guy’s behavior is going to get told and re-told. There’s going to be an ocean of anecdotal evidence, and every stone is going to be turned over twice just so we can get every salacious detail.

I personally can’t wait. It’s going to be mostly pointless coverage and stuff I didn’t want to know, but come on, this is awesome.

So it will be like Favre-apalooza, just with a less likable asshat.
