The Chicago Blackhawks are World Champions

Really, is there more that needs to be said?

Patrick Kane’s bad angle wrist shot at 4:06 of overtime beat Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton five hole (big shock there) and the Chicago Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup since 1961 on Wednesday.

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff most valuable player. Oh, and after losing in the last two Stanley Cup finals, Marian Hossa got his.

Congrats on a fantastic season, Chicago. See you next year.

  2. From a Flyers fan, congrats to another city in desperate need of a hockey title. Tough to lose on such a weak goal, but Chicago completely outplayed Philly for much of games 5 & 6, and deserved to win because of it.

The Blackhawks are crazy good, and the Flyers proved themselves to be a lot better than anyone ever imagined leading up to these playoffs.
