Papi, I agree. I was going more for the point of just how frustrating it is to even have such an excuse available to us.

That said, despite our injury woes, I, like you, still like our chances to get out of the group (assuming the contingencies present in your “IF” come through).

Ciaran- I think its a pretty decent excuse when arguably 2 of your top 5 players are out (Demps and Gooch) and 2 of your top rising talents (Holden and Davies). Need to get some positive vibes going here before SA…
That said, IF we get some decent coaching and have good gameplans we should still be able to get out of the group.

Ugh, this makes me want to throw up.

Freeney’s injury effectively takes him out of the second half of the SB, when Brees got hot (after a beastly sack in the 1st). Mo Creek breaks his knee coming down on a relatively normal play, and at the time is LEADING THE NATION in freshman scoring. Most of the US soccer injuries seem to come at the worst and most ironic times. I’m just waiting to find out about Forlan’s pulled hammy in late May…

Fantastic stuff. Great recap of how unlucky we’ve been with some of our emerging young stars (and vets).

Unfortunately, being battered and bruised appears to be setting up nicely as a convenient excuse for a(nother) lackluster World Cup performance down in SA. Terribly frustrating, but what can ya do?
