Like any good 49er, Vernon Davis is going for gold.

My buddy and fantasy football savior, VD was named an honorary captain for the U.S. Olympic Curling team.

“Going to the Olympics will be a great experience and I’m looking forward to learning more about the sport and seeing other great athletes and competitions in Vancouver.”

Classifying a curler as a great athlete is a bit of a stretch. Stephen Colbert got members of the U.S. Olympic team admit they couldn’t even touch their toes. Now, I can’t either. But I’m no Olympian. (My uncle was though, whoop whoop ’84 Modern Pentathalon.)

Davis curled last fall and has taken some lessons with the U.S. team. He’s also shot some promos for U.S. Curling.

Not sure how the Canadians feel about this though. They usually take extreme measures to keep American VD out of the Land of Maple. Filthy Americans.

Is it ironic that a man with the initials VD is interested in a sport where you pass stones? I mean this guy must hate his penis.
