During a soccer game Sunday between Beijing and Tianjin, the referee was chased and beaten by disgruntled Tianjin players after the referee, He Zhibiao, dished out three red cards.
Can you imagine Philip Rivers and LaDanian Tomlinson chasing Ed Hochuli after that blunder last year in Week 2 against the Broncos. Though, I doubt anyone other than a lineman would risk taking on Big Ed.
Tianjin’s coach Sun Jianjun had this to say:
“As head coach, I should bear the responsibility for the incident. I will help the young players draw lessons from the incident and hope they realize their fatal mistakes.”
The Chinese Football Association has banned Tianjin Soccer Team from competing in October’s National Games in response to the “Beat referee incident.”
