To Watch Tonight…Since the NBA Finals Haven’t Started Yet

San Francisco Giants at Washington Nationals (Local TV only, 7 p.m.): Yes, I know this isn’t a national broadcast. But if you’re in the local area or have a baseball package you need to know only one thing: Randy Johnson is going for his 300th career win. He may be the last 300 game winner we see for a long, long time. He’s also one of the best left-handed pitchers ever.
Monsterquest, “Flying Monsters” (History Channel, 9 p.m.): Easily my favorite show on the History Channel. Monsterquest gets after all those tricky stories (Bigfoot, etc.) scientifically. Very rarely do they figure anything out, but it’s still entertaining. Tonight’s new episode investigates a reported flying creature with a 20-foot wing span in Papau New Guinea.
U.S. World Cup Qualifier, United States vs. Costa Rica (ESPN2, 10 p.m.): The U.S. side has two matches this week. First is tonight’s match against Costa Rica at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa then comes Honduras in Chicago on Saturday. The U.S. has been abysmal in qualifiers in Costa Rica, going 0-6-1. Getting out with a draw would be an accomplishment.
Breaking Bad season finale (AMC, 12:30 a.m.): The national sports scene is a little light. We are, after all, almost to the dog days. If you want to get hooked on a show for next year watch the Breaking Bad season finale. Good show, although depressing at times. Or perhaps this late you should just go to bed.
