Kentucky Fans Are Expressing Their Joy in Prayer
April 3, 2009 – 12:08 am by TheRiot
You might have heard that Kentucky basketball fans are intensely excited their program hired John Calipari. Really, super duper excited.
In fact, the Commonwealth is so stoked people are string words together in such a way that they vaguely resemble a poem. Who knew they could do such things?
Seriously. This was passed on to me by a friend and proud Kentuckian:
The Bluegrass Prayer
Our Calipari which art at UK
Hallowed be this game
Thy recruits they come
And championships be done
At Rupp as it was before
Give us this season the wish we expect
And give us our wins
And we will give you our cheers
Lead us not to the NIT,
And deliver us from L-ville.
For this is Kentucky;
Home of basketball glory
Forever and ever…Amen
I had no idea people in Kentucky were capable of such things. Well done, people.

Hmm…turning the Lord’s Prayer into a “poem” honoring a basketball coach just maybe crosses the line into false idolatry

Don’t know what you’re talking about Pablo, every night before I go to bed I recite “The Crean’s Prayer,” don’t you?

See, being Catholic, I recite the “Hail Crean” ten times and then bust into the “Our Coach”. I refer to it as saying the “Cream and Crimson-ry”.

By the way, I love how this type of thing is acceptable (even if it’s a joke) but even suggesting that gays should be able to get married is blasphemous.
