Tiger Won. Again.

Anyone remember this?

That was at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2008. Tiger nailed a long putt on the 18th hole to win the tournament by one stroke. At the time, it was just evidence of Tiger’s incredible greatness and seeming invincibility.

A US Open win, a bum wheel, and a few months’ rest later, Tiger did that shit again (includes video).

For the third time in his career, Woods won Arnie’s tournament on the 18th hole. The putt was about half as long as last year’s, but damned if it wasn’t just as money.

During that week at Torrey Pines, once his injury became clear, and for the months after, Tiger became something of a sympathetic figure. A wounded champion who was fighting his way back into game shape, hoping he’d be the same as he was during his halcyon days. I even found myself hoping he’d get back to the game and be his old self again.

Well fuck that shit now. Tiger’s back and it’s totally appropriate to hate him and all his wins again. He’s not a bad guy or even an ungracious winner. He’s just not human. I will admit, I still want to see Woods accomplish all the historical stuff he’s on the path for. But it’s much more fun to root for golfers who show their human flaws, who hit the driver into the water when it matters, or, you know, who miss a big putt EVER. Golf is a game for people, and Tiger is back to being a winning cyborg. All I have left to say is this: Go Lefty. Beat Duke Tiger.

  2. Dude, you’re an idiot. Tiger is a gift that should be treasured, like watching Mozart play the piano. Lefty is fat phony. Get a clue.

  3. Tiger is a whiny brat. Who else throws their clubs as much as he does. His game is obviously other-worldly and should be appreciated, but the guy is a jerk. Enough with the red. We get it.
