But one day somebody calls you and says “Hey, wanna interview for our more awesome job in a related field?”
You think about it, and it’s not long before your current boss finds out. He summons you to his office and lays it out very simple: If you even think about interviewing for this other job, I will fire you on the spot!
If this has ever happened to you, a.) that really sucks and b.) you now have something in common with Boston College football coach Jeff Jagodzinski.
Apparently Coach Jags has an interview lined up sometime today with the New York Jets in regards to their vacant head coaching position and intends on following through with it even though BC athletic director Gene DeFilippo threatened to fire him if he does so.
Wait, huh? I don’t get it. You’ve got a coach who’s led you to consecutive ACC Atlantic Division titles (in his first two years on the job) and you’re going to can him on the spot if he just interviews for another job? What in the hell?
I’m not sure how that works.
One would think, you know, that you would value him as a coach and would want him to stay instead of going to the NFL. What kind of incentive is this?
Bah. I don’t even know what else to say. Totally exasperated on this one. But good call if you do indeed fire him, DeFilippo, I’m sure you won’t regret it.
