Going 5-Hole: Watch Out for Those Boards, Ovechkin

January 28, 2009 – 2:13 am by TheRiot

For the sake of having some hockey video (which is always awesome) we give you this week’s best game: Washington at Boston last night, which the Bruins won, 3-2, in overtime.

Here’s what you need to know about this video and what not:

– Gary Bettman and every Caps fan probably held their collective breaths when Alex Ovechkin slammed awkwardly into the boards after getting tangled up with Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara. It could’ve been much, much worse than it turned out.

– Bruins goalie Tim Thomas is THE MAN. Some of the stops he made in that game were unbelievable — and we’re talking about a Capitals team that might be the most talented offensively in the league.

– The Bruins are the best team in the East and now have an 11-point lead over Washington in the Eastern Conference.
