Rick Pitino Enjoys Black Entertainment Television

This is, straight up, one of the weirdest things we’ve ever read about a coach. But hey, we’re not judging. You like what you like.

Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino has a new book coming out that he wrote with ESPN.com columnist Pat Forde called “Rebound Rules: The Art of Success 2.0,” and it apparently gets into his personal life and how he’s overcome various obstacles in his life.

Sounds neat. Although all we really want to know is where he gets his awesome suits.

Anyway, Pitino sat down with the Louisville Courier-Journal recently to talk about his book and various other things. Among the tidbits we found interesting in the Q & A, his answer to why he’s such a fan of Black Entertainment Television tops the list:

I was … with the women volleyball and basketball players on the treadmills, on the ellipticals, and they would say, “Coach, you want me to change it?” and I would say, “No, it’s great. I love this station,” and I would watch it with them as I was getting my exercise.

We wonder if his next work of prose will be a workout program based around watching BET while you break a sweat. Either way, can’t say that we’ve watched a whole lot of BET. Maybe now we will. We’ve been meaning to get back on that workout program anyway.
