Mr. Rodgers, Lead Us Away from the Drama and Into the Light

It’s been a long, long offseason for all those associated with the Green Bay Packers. You might have heard about a guy named Brett Favre. But let’s not rehash. Some of us are still bitter.

Season openers, after all, are about new beginnings. And no, Roy Munson, that’s not the new feminine hygiene spray. It’s the thought of putting whatever has happened in the last few months behind and moving forward with a new football season.

I’m sure Aaron Rodgers would enjoy that, and he certainly has a chance to put all the annoyance of Brett-or-no-Brett behind him tonight.

Problem is, it will not happen tonight when the Packers host the Vikings on Monday Night Football.

There’s too much to talk about. You know damn well Tirico, Kornheiser and Jaws will wax poetic on all the Favre drama. Though Jaws, to his credit, thinks Rodgers will be a fine NFL quarterback.

As do we. Tonight is a chance for Rodgers to put all the doubt to rest and lead his team to victory against a conference rival. It would be a big statement.

We look forward to watching the game without sound so we don’t have to hear about Favre and we will gleefully change the channel to something else every time they play the Jets highlights from yesterday.

Welcome back, Monday Night Football.
