I’m sorry, this is completely off-topic, but all I could think about during this game was the Cromartie touchdown from the 2008 season that was nullified by a “phantom” holding call.

The Chargers ended up winning the game, but the tinfoil-hat wearing side of me was convinced the NFL wanted a Colts-Pats matchup in the Superbowl and would do anything to get it.

Say what you want about the officiating, but there’s nothing more annoying than hearing the “karma for Rivers” argument. Am I supposed to say that Cutler’s diabetes are a direct result of a karmic bitch-slapping resulting from grabbing his crotch and shouting obscenities in front of a full stadium’s worth of people during the very same game?

C’mon. Get over that December loss (and the only three suffered at the hands of the Rivers-led Chargers) and quit pretending that this was a deserved win for either team.

They both played like crap and while the Chargers’ defense looked like that of a high school team during the first half, Cutler’s fumble was the culmination of a full second half’s worth of bad decisions that he and the rest of the Broncos got bailed out for.

The Broncos gave up 377 yards passing, 456 total yards and 38 points all without LT playing much. Why couldn’t your team stop our backup running back? See how lame those arguments are?

By the way, there was absolutely conclusive evidence that Chambers was down, his elbow was clearly on the turf before Bailey even tried to strip the ball. Every analyst I’ve heard and both the in-game announcers said it was a clear overturn.

But hey good for the Broncos, they took advantage of the situation and won the game, I don’t begrudge them. They did what they had to. That doesn’t change the fact that the Chargers had the game taken from them by the officials.

They gave up 350 yards passing, and couldn’t stop the run either. The Broncos were throwing to one guy the whole game — couldn’t your team just stop one guy? It’s easy to point at one blown call (not two: the Bailey interception would very likely not have been overturned on review, actually, due to a lack of conclusive evidence to support overturning it) and make a statement such as the above, which, yeah, reeks of “homer-ish drivel.” Your team needs to start working on its defense; then maybe your sanctimony would be a little easier to take.
