Eight Belles, Now Ashes, Joins the Worms

If there’s one thing we don’t understand here at Rumors and Rants, it’s frothing love for animals that some claim are athletes. But it happens.

So it was Tuesday when the ashes of Eight Belles – the philly who finished second to Big Brown at the Kentucky Derby, was euthanized at the track after breaking both front ankles and spelled doom for Hillary Clinton in her campaign for the Democratic nomination – were buried in the Kentucky Derby Museum garden.

For those of you with nothing to do on Sept. 7, there will be a public ceremony, at which you can pay homage to another victim of a brutal sport. Although I don’t think there will be any Eight Belles glue or dog food available for purchase.

‘Tis a shame.
