Here’s the real fallout from Shaq’s little freestyle rap caught on video and broadcast endlessly on ESPN Monday night and Tuesday morning: He’s gonna have to turn in his (ceremonial) badges.
Yep, Shaq, who was deputized or something of that sort in Maricopa County, Arizona, is going to have to return his badges. According to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the sticking point was the racial element of the freestyle.
To quote the good sherriff:
“I want his two badges back. Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”
I mean, who cares about the state of Shaq’s relationship with Kobe. The streets of Maricopa County are surely less safe now that the Big Diesel won’t be out enforcing curfew and finding lost dogs. That’s the real issue here.
What an injustice to all the fine people of the greater Phoenix area. Their safety is now most likely compromised.
