Michael Vick Would Love This College Baseball Final

Why, you ask? Because it’s a dog fight! Ziiiiiiing!

OK so, the Fresno State Bulldogs beat North Carolina on Sunday night to set up a championship series with the Georgia Bulldogs for college baseball supremacy. The best 2-of-3 series begins at 7 p.m. tonight on ESPN2.

For those of you not in the know, and I figure most of you aren’t college baseball inclined, Fresno State is kind of akin to George Mason for baseball. No team has ever won a College World Series title with more than 23 losses (thanks, ESPN) and Fresno is 45-30 heading into this series.

Fresno faces perennial power Georgia and its studs/first round picks — shortstop Gordon Beckham (eighth overall pick, White Sox) and closer Josh Fields (20th overall pick, Mariners).

In summation: It’s a classic Cinderella against a true college baseball power. Should be entertaining baseball, yes?
