Big Brown galloped nine furlongs Wednesday, his first workout since being diagnosed with a crack in his hoof that sent shudders through the sports world.
Hopefully that was sufficiently dramatic for you. I don’t even know what a furlong is. No idea. But here I am giving my best effort and bringing you this breaking, hard-hitting news about a horse that might do something historic and live forever in our minds.
Or he might lose and we won’t care. Or he might break down and horse racing as we know it will cease to exist. Any of those have great potential.
Anywho, things seem to be progressing nicely for the big thoroughbred. Ian McKinlay, the “hoof lameness specialist,” didn’t even do anything to the Big Brown’s horse foot Wednesday, letting it heal naturally. Neat-o.
And, hoof lameness specialist? I’m pretty sure that’s made up.
