The Special One Returns?

After winning the last two Serie A titles, Inter Milan’s (you know, the other team in Milan) coach, Roberto Mancini is done with the team. I really, really couldn’t care less except that everyone’s favorite Portuguese coach has apparently been given the job, or is leading the pack for it, at least.

If you don’t know who Jose Mourinho is, and you should be embarrassed if you don’t, he led Chelsea to two Premier League titles after a long drought and then either was fired or left the team under less than amicable circumstances. His successor, Avram Grant, has since been let go by the team too. He also dubbed himself “The Special One,” you know, because he’s understated.

I’m really only pretending I care about this story so I can post a few of the brilliantly done “I’m on Setanta Sports” videos that star a puppet version of His Specialness and with a few special guests, the premise being it’s his new job after leaving Chelsea in the middle of this past season. Plus, they kind of imply a “special relationship” between Sven Goran Eriksson and David Beckham. Many of you probably have known about these forever, being much better soccer fans than I, but our legal adviser, Booter, introduced me to them over the weekend, so I’m pretending they’re new. Enjoy. And make extra-special sure to watch the fourth one. Genius.

  2. An extra special day to post these, since our beloved USA Men’s National Team crapped the bed against England. It’s too bad USA Soccer cannot hire Joe-say to coach the squad, since he’s fantastic.

    Be Champions.
