Cleveland 88, Boston 77: Just another agonizingly slow-paced, low-scoring Eastern Conference basketball game last night in Cleveland. Needless to say I spent more time watching the Cubs pound out a win against the Padres. There’s a pretty good chance I would have dozed off otherwise.
LeBron James had 21 points to lead all scorers (yes, that led all scorers) and added 13 assists as the Cavs squared the series at 2-2. He also posterized Kevin Garnett late in the fourth quarter, which just goes to show you should never get in the way of LeBron when he comes charging at the basket. KG should have just sprinted down the court a cherry picked a lay-up. He could have saved some humiliation.
Garnett also took some choice words from LeBron’s mom, Gloria, in the second quarter. You can read the account of the exchange between Gloria and KG for yourself and also check out the video thanks to Odenized. Gloria apparently “jawed and pointed at” Garnett after Paul Pierce’s foul on LeBron caused both players to fall into the courtside seats.
For his part, LeBron told Mama Bear to “sit down.” Now, is that any way to talk to your mother?
Anyway, the Celtics are now 0-5 on the road during these playoffs. Keep in mind three of those losses came against the not-so-playoff-worthy Atlanta Hawks. Is this trend a problem? Uh, yes. Championship teams win on the road the last time I checked.
For my money I wouldn’t be too awfully surprised if the LeBrons went in and stole Game 5. At the very least this thing is going seven games. Everyone knows how unpredictable a Game 7 situation can be. And any team with LeBron James is capable of coming into the House Red Auerbach (didn’t really) Build and winning a decisive game.
All I’m saying is if I’m the Celtics I want to win Wednesday at home then ice this thing with Game 6 in Cleveland. Easier said than done, I suppose.
