Rejoice San Fran: Barry Zito Continues to Get Bombed Today

May 7, 2008 – 12:30 am by admin

Fear not, baseball world, the $126 million man is no longer a relief pitcher.

Reports out of San Francisco say that Giants pitcher Barry Zito will return to the starting rotation today against the Pirates. So, if he was sent to the bullpen but never made an appearance, was he ever a relief pitcher? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

Anyway, we all know what’s on the line for Zito: An 0-6 record, a 7.53 ERA and any shred of dignity or sanity he might have left.

I, for one, hope he continues to get bombed, even though the value of my signed Barry Zito baseball card will continue to plummet like Ron Paul’s chances of winning the Republican nomination (Really, I didn’t even know he was still on the ballot).

Every start he makes is such a train wreck. It’s quite amazing. All we need to do is think of some kind of drinking game we can do during a vintage (awful) Zito start.

Perhaps every time he throws a fastball under 85 miles per hour there’s a drink. And every time he has that “This is not gong to end well” look on his face there’s another. I don’t know, I’m just tossing ideas against the wall.

And, the point of the call was Johan Santana was struggling due to his TEAM, just like Chris does with Mike during this ‘crossroads’ time.

Writer Chris Illuminati of Philly Blurbs said this after viewing the video, “video proof that the Dog won’t bark about any particulars of the rough patch he and Mike are going through.”

Kevin Canessa has had the foresight of a Mike and the Mad Dog Split since this post.

    He deserves that credit!

ps, Chris said a few days before, “And, you know, Neil Best thinks he has something and he’s a good reporter and I like Neil. Again, I would never talk to him about anything like this because for whatever the reason, this is a guy who killed my book. That’s sensitive to authors, and don’t forget, I’m John Grisham. That’s sensitive.” and then added, “I’ve talked to him about it, but I don’t forget that. He went out of his way to bury that book, same day I was on the Today show. C’mon. But listen, Neil thinks he has something, so he’s going to track me down in the middle of a weekend and he’s going to track Mike down in the middle of a weekend and he’s going to write something.”
