Gavin Floyd is Such a Choker

Just kidding, buddy. But seriously…

It’d be cool if you could actually seal the deal.

Unless you enjoy following mediocre baseball teams in Chicago, you may not know that White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd lost his bid for a no-hitter last night with one out in the ninth inning against the Twinkies.

It’s the second time Floyd has taken a no-hitter into the late innings this season. He held Detroit down for 7 1/3 innings in mid-April.

This is the same Gavin Floyd, you may recall, that spent his first three years in The Show getting knocked around a bit with the Phillies before he landed in Chicago. I’ll never understand how Philly gives up on a kid with this kind of stuff. I mean, he’s only 25.

But they do have Jamie Moyer, so….

Congrats, Gavin. I guess those blow-up dolls really worked.

  3. As a Phillies fan, its quite obvious on why they gave up on him.
The guy didn’t have the vas defrens(sp?) to close the deal. 0-2 counts would become hits, walks, etc. It was a at bat version of him losing no hitters. He would get into pitcher’s counts, and then the next thing you know, the batter would be on base.
