Alfonso Soriano is Good at Hitting Baseballs Again

Obligatory Cubs post here. Feel free to move on if it’s not quite your bag but…

The Northsiders wrapped up their best 10-game homestand in 30 years this weekend by taking two-of-three against the Pirates to finish 8-2. I mean, even Jason Marquis got a win, so you know things are going well.

Is there anyone hotter right now than Alfonso Soriano? He was hitting .188 before this homestand started. As the Cubs leave for Houston his average is .296 after hitting .525 with seven home runs and 16 RBI over the last 10 games. Ridiculous.

Most sane fans — the few and proud — had to see this hot streak coming eventually. And to all who said he should be dropped in the batting order when he was not healthy and still trying to find his timing: Kindly do not speak of the batting order again.

This is, after all, the same guy that hit 14 home runs last September to carry the Cubs into the playoffs.
