Here at Rumors and Rants we provide the type of exclusive coverage that you crave. Like a photo essay from courtside at the first-ever CBI championship game.
I know what you’re thinking: That’s amazing! What the hell is the CBI?
Otherwise known as the College Basketball Invitational, it is a 16-team tournament for teams that were not invited to the NCAA Tournament or the NIT. I know. Impressive. But what separates the CBI from its peers (other than its exclusive field) is that the championship is decided in a best-of-3 series.
This year, Bradley and Tulsa made their way through the precarious brackets to meet for the hardware. And Friday night was the rubber game of the thrilling series in Tulsa. That’s where our man, Thporth, comes into the picture.
Being a current Tulsa resident, he had courtside access at whatever the name of Tulsa’s arena is. And we have the exclusive CBI championship photos and captions that you crave from the Golden Hurricane’s Friday night victory.
How exclusive, you ask? As of 1 p.m. Central Time on Saturday, we have produced this information quicker than the actual CBI website. I shit you not.
UPDATE: The CBI finally has crowned Tulsa as its champion on the official website. But I like to think we had some influence on this development.
Tulsa’s fans get into a frenzy before tipoff. The guy under the basket is not the actual Golden Hurricane mascot, just some guy hereby known as the King of the CBI.
