dungy IS a hypocrite.

it might not feel good to hear it since he's such a "good" guy and all, but he is a hypocrite.

can't promote something like "family values" if you're not really taking an active part in someone's life, right?

Yes, we're sure a healthy Philip Rivers is better than Billy Volek. Dude made the Pro Bowl last year and on two bad knees kept his team in the game against the Pats. He threw one bad INT on the fluttering fly route, but on the other he got hit as he threw and Chambers still probably should have caught it.

Ask anyone associated with the Chargers who they thought gave them the best chance to win, I guarantee you'll get the same response every time. Even if you go off the record.

How do these people manage to get on the tv and radio shows still. Maybe you have to go and get a degree in journalism, because they teach you how to make up any story out of mid air and have a cult following that completely disagress with everything you say.

How else could've ESPN lasted so long. Oh yeah, always talk about the bigger market teams as well. Good or bad points it doesn't matter.

I'm gonna agree with anonymous here and say that calling Rivers a "Great Player" just destroyed your argument. But here is a little more.

Billy Volek's career passer rating is about a point lower than River's despite playing with drastically less talent around him. Is that single point what makes him Billy Freaking Volek and makes Rivers a "Great Player?"

And the great Philip Rivers was 19 for 37 with 0 TD's and 2 bad picks. One of which was one of the worst passes i've ever seen (the terribly underthrown fly route down the sideline.)

So you are right abuot the first guy and very wrong about Plashke.

As someone who lives and works in Indy, I will let you in on a secret. The Indy Star sucks even more than Bob Kravitz does, and that is not easy to do. I cancelled my subscription years ago.

not even a blogger would touch that topic because it's none of our business. No one cares about the guy's family life or ability to moralize outside of when tragedy happens and when he writes a book about it. Colts fan just wants the guy to win football games and what happens with his family is his business. The rest of America just thought, "Tony Dungy wrote a book?"

First of all, the reason Dungy is open to being called a hypocrite IS because he wrote a book which basically outlined how we (the general public) should raise our kids. And guess what.....it wasn't a secret that Dungy wrote this book. It was a NY Times bestseller for almost a month, and he was on numerous talk shows promoting it.

That Indy Star writer is right on. The public doesn't have the right to judge football coaches for personal problems (Andy Reid). But when those coaches profess to be experts on raising children and then don't even want to be in the same state as their kids (Dungy) smacks of hypocriticism.

Bill Plaschke has always been a sermonizing, holier-than-thou, sports writer. He constantly talks about certain athletes and teams being bad people, somehow believing that he, alone, is the untouchable sportswriter. Just watch him on ATH (if you can stomach it) to see how he talks down to all of the other sportswriters in a condesending manner.

Calling Rivers a "great player" is not real strong support for your position.
