Today’s Top Story: We Told You So

October 14, 2006 – 12:58 am by Ryan Phillips

We told you we knew what we were talking about when we broke the story about Eric Gordon spurning Illinois for Indiana. Ok sorry, we don’t like to gloat here at Rumors and Rants but this one feels pretty good. We had this story on monday before anyone in the nation and more than a few people questioned whether or not it was legitimate. Now that the Chicago Tribune and ESPN have gone public with the story pretty much everyone knows the truth.
And to those people who doubted us, we’d just like to say this: Ha, how does that feel punks?!? Huh? What’s that, no response? How do you like us now?
Note: We fully apologize for this post, we went a little overboard and should really learn to reign in our egos. That said, we are pretty amazing. And brilliant. And good looking. And…

  2. Phillips, I’m not even going to dignify a response to any of the above or anything you’ve done or said in the past week.

That said, please quit this little game where you pretend like you’re a legitimate conveyer of information. Your “source” is a friend who was drunk at Rockits in Bloomington last weekend. He saw AJ Ratliff there and was trashed enough to ask him about Eric Gordon. I know this because I’m his friend as well. All these quotes, the e-mails, the speculation – they’re all pure fabrication.

Normally, I wouldn’t care about you or any of your musings, but you’ve managed to piss off the Gordon family pretty badly. Eric Gordon Sr. was angry over this and so is much of Assembly Hall. And unfortunately, this effects me.

If you want to kill your entire credibility with IU media relations, be my guest – just don’t expect to even be allowed to look at an Assembly Hall press credential anytime in the near future. What you need to not do is fabricate, lie or post on the basis of speculation.

Thank you for already making this kid hate the media. I’m the one who gets to deal with him for the next two or three years.

  5. It’d be pretty funny if my source was actually a drunk friend who happens to be a co-writer on this site huh? It’s a shame that’s not the case cause that’d be a great story.

  6. I will smash your face into a car windshield, and then take your mother Mrs. Romey out for a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

  7. Again, it was 50/50. The Gordon commit proves nothing. Only proof that can be had here is that you reveal your source.

  8. I believe this has been addressed on previous posts, but “J” you’re an idiot.

  9. Anonymous,

Ad hominem is less than convincing.

    All the best,
